We are ecstatic to announce that it has reached its campaign goal of $3 million for the Here For You Today, Building For Tomorrow capital campaign. These funds are being used to renovate the East and West Wings of the St. Marys Memorial Hospital.
Over the years, evolving technologies have influenced the requirements of healthcare staff to ensure the delivery of the latest and most advanced care.
This initiative aims to align St. Marys Memorial Hospital with current standards as advised by the Ontario Provincial guidelines. One notable enhancement involves the establishment of a negative pressure room to manage patients with infectious diseases safely.
The purpose of the campaign is to raise $3 million for the rebuild of the East and West Wings of the St. Marys Memorial Hospital
It is estimated that the project will cost $7 million.
In addition to the $3 million that the “Here for You Today, Building for Tomorrow” will raise, the St. Marys Healthcare Foundation has committed $2 million from previous fundraising efforts.
The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) will supply the remainder of the necessary funds, which is estimated to be about $1 million.
We are delighted to let you know that construction in the East Wing has already started and will wrap up early 2024.
We expect work on the the West Wing to begin March 2024.
The project will bring St. Marys Memorial Hospital up to current standards as recommended by the Ontario Provincial Government. Renovations include increasing the number of hand washing stations, widening washroom doors to allow patients easier access, new headwalls in each patient room, new wiring, and new HVAC. As well the hospital will create new separate rooms for clean and soiled linens along with a negative pressure room to safely treat patients with infectious diseases.
Although the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance has taken great care to maintain St. Marys Memorial Hospital, some features of the hospital do not meet current standards. Over the years, new technology has changed the needs of staff in order to provide the most up-to-date care, and the facilities need to be updated so that the staff can provide the best care possible. St. Marys Memorial Hospital has served the community well since first built, and the renewal will ensure that it continues to meet the needs of our community for many years to come.
Our Foundation’s Mission is to support “A healthy & active lifestyle”. The majority of the funds are utilized at the Hospital and Tradition Mutual Centre for Wellness. The foundation also has a process for receiving grant requests. The foundation will support equipment (like the MRI in Stratford), that services our community and our rural communities.
